A mistake?

So I felt very blah all last week - just didn't really care about anything.  I knew I wanted to hit the ground running on July 1st so my brilliant plan was to have a cheat weekend - to get all the bad food I could possibly want out of my system.  So thats what we did!  Friday night we had burgers and fries at Red Robon.  Saturday we had lunch at Jack In The Box before Bandanas BBQ.  Sunday breakfast brought us Waffles and Bacon and Chicken and Dumplings for dinner.  We also finished an Oreo No-Bake Cheesecake and part of a peach pie....

While everything was delicious - I am seriously regretting it today.  Not only did I weigh in 4 pounds heavier than I was Friday morning but also I feel like total crap today - like my stomach is fighting me back for all the crap I put in it.  I am sooo glad I am back to healthy eating today!  I had some hopes of getting up early today and start my morning workouts but Izzy didnt have a good night last night plus me feeling like crap didn't help.  I have 2 very busy days at work this week then 5 days off so that should help me a lot!!!

Still havent completely decided my routine for the month but I figure I will just go with it but my plan is to get 20 miles a week plus other circut training in.... I just hope I don't overdo it but I know it wont be easy but well worth it in the end!

Where to Start

I won't lie - I've felt kinda blah all week - I've still kept up with my healthy eating and still walked some at work but really didn't put much effort into it.  I've just been down and not feeling like trying and am even having a total cheat weekend where I get all the foods that I really want out of my system - had a big juicy burger and fries last night at Red Robin, having a no-bake oreo cheesecake throughout the weekend, Bandanas BBQ tonight for dinner and Waffles with Bacon tomorrow for breakfast and Chicken and Dumplings for dinner.  My hopes are that if I can get all of the "junk" out of my system before hitting the ball rolling July 1st.  I don't have a problem with the food aspect of it - I'm good with eating healthy and fruits and vegetables and limiting calories, but I don't know where to start with the exercise aspect.  I know that I need to incorporate exercise into my routine that diet is not enough but I don't know where to start.  I did 1/2 of a 14 day leg challenge this month before I hit the blah moments - and I have all these things that I want to do but I don't know where to start.  I don't want to sign myself up for too much that I'm going to end up killing myself but at the same time I want it to make a difference.

I want to increase my walking daily to at least 3 miles a day as well as completing Jillian Micheal's 30 day Shred program.   But there are also several little "challenges" that I want to do like 30 day to 200 Squat Challenge or the   30 day Ab Challenge or even another leg challenge. I just don't know how much is too much.  I want to get in the best shape possible and have set a goal of being in the 100's by October.  I have 24 pounds to go and 3 months to do it.  I should be able to but I just don't know what route to take to get there.  Guess that's what I'll be doing this weekend - but right now I know a little girl that is fighting sleep so Gotta put on my mommy cap and get her down!

Reasons You Are Not Losing.

I read an article just now titled - Reasons You Are Not Losing, and it really rings bells to me - a lot of the things they mention I fall into that category of and could easily lead to the reason I see such a back and forth on the scale.  Now I've had variations between my scale and the scale I weight on at work so for this post, I'm going to sue the work scale.  On 6/2 I weighed in at 235 pounds.  On 6/6 I was 234.6, on 6/13 I was 230.2, and then yesterday 6/19 I was back up to 231.6.  I've been working my butt off, watching what I eat and still gained and am thinking several of these reasons could be why:

  1. You Don't Drink Water - I'm EXTREMELY Guilty of this - I get sooo busy at work sometimes I don't think to drink.  I put a post on facebook asking how people "remember" to drink and a lot of people mentioned about setting up an alarm or a reminder on their computer to have a message come up to remind you to drink.  I think that I am going to do something like this.  I currently only drink water (besides my morning protein shake) so it's not like I'm drinking crap but I do need to drastically increase my water intake!
  2. You Think Walking Your Dog Is Enough - I don't have a dog but maybe my walks at work just aren't enough but at least it forces me to get SOME exercise everyday - plus we keep pushing each other to get thru it faster!  We cut 1 min 10 seconds off our walk earlier in the week - who knows what next week will accomplish.
  3. You Overeat Healthy Foods - I don't think I fall into this category but I will definitely keep it in mind.  Basically it's staying that even though some foods may be healthy and good for you, it doesn't mean that they are void of calories!  This is why I'm sure to keep track of ALL food even if it has no calories.
  4. You Only Do Cardio - I do not own a bunch of weights and the ones I do are only 1, 3, and 5 pounds - I'm hoping to increase my selection, and start doing more than just cardio and to do some target zone workouts.
  5. You Exercise With an Empty Stomach -  I am guilty of this.  I tend to have my snack AFTER working out and need to realize I need something to keep going and allow me to survive the workout.
  6. Your Partner Isn't on the Same Healthy Road - He says he is but he isn't 100% dedicated to it like I am.
  7. You Leave Out Entire Food Groups
  8. You Don't Sleep Enough - I have a 5 month old (who has issues sleeping on her back which she has recently began flipping to A LOT) so yeah sleep is not something I get a lot of.
  9. You Don't Get Enough Veggies - I def don't fall into this category - I eat A LOT of vegetables and love them!
  10. You Eat While Standing Up
  11. You Wear Clothes That Are Too Big - this has a lot to do with I'm just too cheap to go buy new clothes because I don't plan on being this size very long but I'm going out tomorrow and getting a few things in size 16 & 18 (when before pregnancy I was in 22's)
  12. You're on a Diet. Well, Sort Of . . . I def try to stick to my diet as well as I can and play out my meals.  The last couple of days I've slacked a little but still am trying to do my best but comes July 1st I'm hitting it HARDCORE!
  13. You're Addicted to Condiments and Toppings - Salad dressing is my worst enemy here but I'm trying to stick to vinaigrette dressings.
  14. You Don't Eat Breakfast - I eat breakfast each morning when I get to work during the week - weekends are not necessarily the case.  Gotta get better at that.
  15. You Don't Practice Portion Control - I used to be very guilty of this but now I'm starting to pay more attention to this but I know I could use more work on it.
  16. You Eat Without Thinking
  17. You Don't Cut Your Food - by cutting your food into smaller pieces it allows you to be more conscious about what you're eating and limits overeating
  18. You Still Drink Soda
  19. You Don't Eat Enough - I really think this is my #1 problem - when I first started this journey a couple weeks ago, there were several days I would struggle to get to 1000 calories and then was surprised when the weight didn't come off like I thought it should.
  20. You Don't Leave Time For Fun
  21. You Overindulge in Low-Fat Foods
  22. You Don't Keep a Food Journal
  23. You're Always Dining Out - We're cutting back on this but still eat out a lot more than we should.
  24. You Never Indulge - I do indulge though but am trying to limit at just how much I indulge.
  25. You Eat the Wrong Post-Workout Snacks - I try to have apples & peanut butter after my morning walks at work but other than that I rarely eat ANYTHING after working out but am going to try to change this!

So I really think that a lot of these are reasons that I could not be losing and when I start hitting this even harder in a couple days I'm going to make strategic decisions to pay attention to these things and see if the weight starts coming off!

A New Beginning

Hello – I have been overweight for as long as I can remember.   I don’t know if it’s related or not but I have also been generally pretty unhappy most of my life.  I struggled to conceive for 2.5 years after I was married in September of 2010 and finally was able to get pregnant and in January I had my beautiful little girl!  Having her has shown me that I need to make changes for the better.  I have tried to lose weight in the past, mostly with little success but now I have an ultimate goal.  I want to be healthy and happy for my little girl.  I want to be able to run around and play with her.  I want to have the energy and physical ability to do this.  I want to live a long healthy life for her.  She’s my life now, and I have to do everything in my power to make sure I’m around and in the best shape to do so.   So I’m starting this journey – I know it’s not going to be easy – and I know it’s not going to happen overnight – but in the end it will all be worth it!

Here I am before I got pregnant, one picture is January 2013, and the other is April 2013 (prob the week before we conceived baby Isabelle.
I weighed in at 255 pounds at that point.

Here I am 1 week before my girl was born.  Went in for an induction which didn’t take.
I was at 253 pounds.
Here I am today.  Wanted to get good pictures of me at my new “starting point”.
.
I want to use this site to keep track of my journey, the good, the bad and the ugly.  The blood, the sweat, the tears, but also the good times, the triumphs, and the success stories.

Here are my current statistics:

Neck – 14.25 in
Waist 43.5 in
Hips 50.5 in
Underbust 37.5 in
Bust 43 in
Thighs 30.25 in
